Lately, we've got a few calls about Antivirus2010, first let me say this, Antivirus2010 is not a good thing. It is a malware application that spreads mostly by tricking users into installing it.

Once installed, Antivirus2010 will make bogus claims that you are infected, and it will show you a list of viruses/trojans that really don't exist on your machine. The idea is, it will offer you to purchase Antivirus2010 to clean all these off. It is just a way to extort money from unsuspecting users.

You probably won't get infected if you are a cautious web browser, but if you do try the following method for cleanup. Be warned, if you leave the system running while infected and keep working, the Antivirus2010 will only get more annoying and dig its roots deeper. Like with any infection, the best strategy is to catch it early and clean it fast.

If you do get a pop up box about Antivirus2010, the first thing to do is to not click anywhere and call IT Support. If you don't have access to IT Support, press CTRL+ALT+DEL and in task manager click on "Processes" tab and stop these processes:

AntivirusPro2010.exe
AV2010Install.exe
ieupdates.exe
