Keeping your home machine in ship-shape

Microsoft is now offering an online scanner that will scan your Windows machine for viruses, malware, registry issues and offer to fix all these issues for you.
To scan your machine, first make sure no applications are running and click Start, Run and type in "http://www.safety.live.com" without the quotes. Now, click the link called Safety Scanner on the left, then click Full Service Scan and follow the instructions.
This process will take some time and scan all critical areas of your home machine from file system, registry to disk fragmentation and to top it all off, it's free.
So if your machine is acting sluggish or hanging from time to time, try the new Safety Scanner and watch how much performance drag malware and redundant registry entries can have.
You can also purchase the Live OneCare software that will keep you protected automatically instead of having to scan the machine manually. The Live OneCare client will do everything the Safety Scanner will do along with providing real-time protection and automated scanning.
